Kiyomi Carbone
Director, Model Risk Consulting
Kiyomi Carbone is a Director, Model Risk Consulting, at VBC. She is primarily responsible for supporting the model validation division, the VBC Advisors model risk consulting division, and other firm-wide strategic initiatives.
Prior to joining VBC, Kiyomi spent over seven years at Rockland Trust as it grew from approximately $7.5 to $20 billion in assets. Beginning in the Technology and Operations division, she helped create several risk management programs in preparation for crossing the $10 billion threshold before transitioning to Enterprise Risk Management as the Model Risk Manager, where she developed the bank’s second line model risk program and led all model validation engagements. Keenly aware of the regulatory and operational challenges banks face in the years leading up to and after reaching $10 billion, she pairs frameworks that meaningfully manage risk with processes that are efficient and customized to the institution’s regulatory requirements, size, complexity, and culture. Kiyomi incorporates Gestalt principles in corporate change management and enjoys designing automated workflows, reporting, and engaging training tailored to roles throughout the organization.
Kiyomi received a B.A. in English from Brigham Young University and an M.B.A. in Finance from Cambridge College.
Outside of work, Kiyomi enjoys gardening, cooking, reading, and pursuing her life-long goal of earning the epitaph “favorite auntie.”
